i recently visited the decathlon store in navi mumbai to check on new cycles. my last cycle was in 1988/89, the BSA Mach 1 bought with savings. i am simply amazed and overwhelmed at the choice, range and segmentation in cycles. It was probably always there internationally, but a more recent phenomenon in India. I wanted to purchase a cycle for general leisure riding in the city. Navi Mumbai afford you space for movement and also reasonably good surfaces.
The Btwin range in the riverside series has Btwin 120 (priced at Rs 12,999) & Btwin 500 (with front shocks priced at Rs 22,999). Nothing in-between. But as a possible alternative, there is the rockrider series at various price points between the two extremes, starting from 13,000 onwards.
The segment supervisor advised the riverside 120/500 series but not the rockrider series as the sitting position in rockrider is a lot more inclined.
What do you guys think about it? should the choice be riverside 500 or rockrider series (assuming i go with front shocks and disc brakes–why not indulge a bit!).
thanks for your help and critical insight in advance. i had also visited Everest Cycles store where they stock a lot more brands and range of cycles and where they showed me a Schnell cycle for around Rs 15/16000. Dont remember the specs but was similar to the riverside/rockrider. That left me thoroughly confused and so the visit to Decathlon to get a more professional/expert opinion.
